In 1994, iconic San Francisco film director EE Gregg Snazelle relocated his
studio business, Cine Rent West, up to Portland where he purchased the
NW Production Center Building from Will Vinton Studios. While upgrading the
studio to a professional sound stage production facility, several films set
up production and postproduction operations in the building including Mr Holland’s Opus
and Gus Van Zant’s My Own Private Idaho.
In 1999, when Gregg passed away, the building and its operation went up for
sale. Longtime freelance Camera Assistant, Chris Crever, stepped in and
took over the building and its operations. Over the past 10 years, many
improvements have been made to the building and the business while expanding
the tenant base to include industry specific professionals. Today the NW
Production Center houses a casting agency, still photography group,
production companies and a branded entertainment agency.
